City of Gloucester
Proprietors Riverfront Park
The City of Gloucester in Camden County, New Jersey is one of the oldest communities in the region. The Citys founding precedes that of Philadelphia, its neighbor across the Delaware River.
The City served as a center of commerce in its early days, and became a major industrial and ship building seaport. The decline of manufacturing in the U.S. has taken its toll on Gloucester City. Yet, the City is determined to improve the quality of life for its 11,000 residents.
To implement a Recreation Plan for its riverfront property, the last tract of undeveloped land with public access to the water, the City turned to Triad Associates. Triad has been successful in securing over $2.5 million from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Green Acres Program for land acquisition and development of Proprietors Riverfront Park.
Elements of the plan, featuring active and passive recreational opportunities include:
A marina
A boat ramp
A fishing pier
Walking/jogging paths with links to area community/senior citizen centers
Information panels displaying historical significance of the site
